Once a picture frame order is ready for shipment, it is generally delivered by UPS or LTL (freight). Flooring orders are delivered on our truck, by private carrier or LTL (freight). Alternatively, you may choose to pick up your own order at our facility.
Shipping
Generally we ship everything but the following items by UPS:
- Length with pieces over 8′
- Boxes with length and girth adding to more than 130″ (130″ = 10′ 10″)
This works well as a general rule of thumb, but a carrier is not chosen until the order is packaged and we can be sure which method will be most cost effective. If you would like an order to be shipped by one or the other, or if you would like to pick up the order yourself, let us know when you place your order.
Orders are shipped by UPS unless the order is large or contains lengths over 8′. We use UPS Ground, unless an expedited service is requested at time of order.
Shipping Schedule
All orders received by noon are put in process; orders received after noon will be processed the next business day. We do our best to adhere to the following schedule:

We are normally closed 1-2 weeks at the end of the year. If you have a time-sensitive order during that time, it is suggested you confirm the expected date of shipment when placing your order.
* Except for Yankee Heritage
** Time for individually-ordered corner samples varies depending on the amount of orders for them. While it generally takes around 2 weeks, it may be more or less. Contact us for a more accurate estimate.
Freight
Shipping charges are actual freight charges plus an order processing charge of $7.50 per order.
Shipping by UPS is pre-paid and added to your invoice, F.O.B.* Chester, VT. Larger orders or those containing lengths over 8′ are shipped by truck.
You may also choose to pick up an order at your own risk. You are responsible to determine the suitability of your vehicle for transport of any product purchased from Vermont Hardwoods.
* F.O.B. (Free On Board):The buyer is responsible for all costs incurred after the cargo has been loaded.
Payment
We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover. If you have a credit card declined more than three times in a one year period, all future declines will be subject to a $5 per attempt handling charge.
We can ship your order COD or you may also pre-pay by check or money order, but please call ahead to verify pricing and approximate shipping costs. After your first order, fill out a credit application (pdf) if you would like to establish an account with terms of Net 30 Days.
Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) checks will be subject to a $35 charge. We reserve the right to request cash or equivalent if there is excessive NSF activity on your account.
