Chops are cut using FACTS terminology. Standard allowance is 1/8" on all profiles − except 916 and 917, which have no allowance − but you are welcome to specify differently if you like (e.g. 1/16" allowance). To calculate the footage necessary to cut the chop, which is the amount that will be billed for, see the Chop Footage Calculator.
There is an Oversize Charge for chops that require more than the following footage for an individual chop:
Chops are made with every effort to ensure that all four pieces are of a similar color and grain. When possible, we chop a frame from one length of moulding. Multiple chops of the same moulding are not selected to match one another unless specified, in which case there will be an extra charge:

Priced between Length and Mitered Chop, if you have mitering equipment and would like to save a bit of money, or just don't know the exact size at the time of order, this may be a good option for you. You provide the Frame Dimension and we will provide four rails long enough to yield a ½" larger dimension when mitered.
For individual orders this is probably one of the simplest and most cost effective ways of ordering. You provide the frame dimension (usually the Mat or Glass size) and we will provide four hand-picked rails of matching color and grain to complete the order. A standard allowance of 1/8" will be added unless you specify otherwise.
Order your mitered chop with dovetail wedges for easy assembly and no markings on the front or sides of the frame. Each rail comes with slots pre-routed on both ends − all you have to do is put some glue on the mitered edges, stick them together, and insert the provided dovetail pieces. See the dovetail wedges page for details and instructions.
